too many came forward to brave the freezing and wet conditions.

Battling extreme temperatures of up to 43
degrees, Team Elargee had a very exciting and successful show.
Elargee Tobruk was judged Junior Champion Welsh Mountain Colt.
Elargee Plumberry was judged Junior Champion Welsh Mountain
Filly on Friday and then came out on Saturday to claim the title

unexpected, but she really put herself out there!!
E. Rhosili was also 2nd in her 3 year old filly
class and E. Truffle, not shown since a yearling was third in a
very strong senior dry mare class.

May 2009
On a cold and misty morning we travelled to
Clarendon via Ballarat for our final foal show of the season. We
were delighted for Suzanne Evans of Queensland, the new owner of
E. Duntroon, when he took out Champion Section A Foal and
Supreme Welsh foal in Ring 1. E. Plumberry won the Section A
filly class in this ring and E. Taboo was Champion Gelding foal.
E. Rhadol unfortunately did not travel well and sweated badly on
the float. However she managed to come out in Ring 2
and moved like a dream to take out Reserve Champion Section A
foal. We were very happy with the performance of our foals
at the two foal shows we attended where each foal won a broad
sash.

Yarra Valley RPG Foal Show May 3 2009
It was a glorious, warm Autumn day for the annual
Yarra Valley Foal Show held at Glenbrae Equestrian Centre, a
lovely setting with all the trees in their Autumn foliage. Team
Elargee had a very successful day with E. Braveheart
taking out the Champion Section A foal and E. Plumberry standing
Reserve Champion to him after winning the filly foal class. E.
Taboo then came out and won the class for geldings of Section A
breeding and Champion Gelding foal. Performing like a true
peacock, he then strutted his stuff and won the heart of Judge
Megan Howe of Nawarrah Park Stud Victoria taking out
Supreme Champion Welsh foal and a Society medal. It is interesting
that he replicated the efforts of his full brother, E. Tobruk,
who took out this award last year.

On a terribly windy and dusty day, we travelled
to the Summer Royal at Werribee Park. We were thrilled when E.
Tobruk won his yearling colt class, was judged Junior Champion
Welsh Mountain Pony Colt and then Supreme Champion Welsh
Mountain pony. A great feat for a young man given the blustery
conditions.
Friars Heart of Wales (imp) won the brood mare class but looked
immature at only four years of age. E. Tiz Thyme was
placed third in the 3 year old filly class and is now retired to
stud duties.

We were uncertain we could make the trip to
Tatura given Chris was seriously ill in hospital only two weeks
before the show. Although still unwell, she was determined to go
and show the ponies, even though her running skills were
seriously impaired!! E.Tobruk won his yearling class, Friars
Heart of Wales (imp) was second in the novice broodmare class,
E. Rhosili was 4th in a very strong 2 year old filly class and
E.Tiz Thyme was 3rd in the 3 year old filly class. Overall
a very consistent performance given the limited preparation.
